I held out my hand
I held out my hand,
you chopped it off.
I offered you shelter,
you burnt it down.
I gave you food,
you poisoned my children.
I offered you peace,
you brought me war.
I prayed to God,
so did you.
I said forgive them,
you said kill them.
God was confused,
so he turned his back.
So here we are, you and me,
here we are, on our own.
And I’ll hold out the other hand,
and see what you do.
Maybe this time we can get it right,
maybe God will listen if we do.
You call him Allah, I call him God,
together we’re his children, all the same blood.
Here’s my hand, what’ll you do?
there’s only one left.
Have the courage my friend,
have the courage to take my hand.
Then maybe together we can march as one,
maybe together in the brotherhood of man.
