Remembered

A memory floats upon a pool of sadness
cupped, here in my palm, and flickers like
a candle flame in savored sweetness.
Honeyed drops of silk wrapped nights
and lilac scented picnic days
betray my loss and shiver me
in opaque slides of moonspun dances.
Deep inside the gauze-draped bed
we used to share, crisp cottoned bliss
unraveled into disarray. Your unexpected
smiles I miss, more than the evening ruby wine,
more than the golden circle where you used to be mine.
