Boy in a Chair
Boy in a chair,
so quietly sitting there.
Watching wide-eyed,
trying not to hope to much.
He’s done this before.
Maybe this time will be different.
Maybe this smiling-eyed lady and this kind-faced man will decide he is just the sort of
little boy they need in their lives. Perhaps soon he will have a different chair in a
different house, a chair in a home that he can call his own.
Perhaps this will be the last time this boy has to sit in this chair. He prays that this
will be so. He sends his prayer upwards to where he imagines God might be sitting
on His own special chair. He prays this really will be the last time this boy sits on
this chair -- waiting. I pray so, too.
